There was one guy this year on the AT that hiked from Springer to Damascus
(450 miles, that's all he intended on doing) with a tent, backpack and
raingear all handmade out of Tyvek!  Incredibly, he hiked barefoot the whole
distance and brought sandals with him solely for the purpose of going into
stores to resupply.  

He's trailname,  Tyvekman!
