Jim,

I've been looking long and hard for a new external frame pack and I am
leaning strongly towards the Kelty Yukon.  The one I saw at REI in College
Park, MD, claimed to weigh 4 lb, 5 oz. (large version)  I picked it up and
it felt pretty light but I was unable to weigh it.  It had a great, tight,
backband.    Although smaller than a Super Tioga, I'm not sure I (or anyone
else) needs a pack as large as the Super.  REI wanted $90 for it.  At any
rate, I think it is worth a look.
