Regarding the cell phone discussion..........it would seem to me that someone
who felt communication was essential while in remote areas could easily get
the ham radio novice license and carry a 2 meter handheld transceiver. HT's
will outperform any cell phone, are similar in weight, and dont require the
government to build towers all over the forest. But of course the average joe
would rather not bother........cell phones require no license or
training....... and the telecom companies would rather convince the public
that they need to buy their products instead. Too bad for us.
