I was at Yosemite early this summer. The bears easily cause
$500,000,000 in losses (not actual damage). It works like this. The
bears pose as valet parking attendants at the lodge--which only
attracts the richest visitors with the nicest cars. The bears steal
the cars (which causes insurances losses). The bears do not damage
the cars, however. The bears trade the cars for pick-a-nick
baskets (Yogi pronunciation) to unscrupulous chipmunks who sell them
to unsuspecting foreigners. By the way, only black bears engage in
this practice . . . thus the origin of the term "black market."
