Whitney Trail Hikers,

A friend just told me of Doug Thompson's website. (Doug is the proprietor of
the Whitney Portal trailhead store.)

I think it's a great source of first-hand (really) information and advice
about the Whitney Trail and hiking to the peak. Doug also has authored a book
on climbing the peak (see the website); the book is available at the store.
Check it out on your way down from the peak.

For JMT thru-hikers: check out Doug's "John Muir Trail" patch available at the
store. It's the best you'll find in the Owens Valley. Don't leave Whitney
Portal without one!
