[pct-l] Re:Tents,Tarps, Bivy's?

I am riding across the US on horseback but am riding low impact and using
backpacking equipment. I carry a tent but most of the time just sleep under
the stars on saddle blankets. In the middle of the summer, it doesn't rain
much and a bivy sack would work good. Early Spring and fall bring more
weather and at these times, I like to enjoy the comfort of a tent and
kickback during the rain. I would not suggest a tarp because of skeeters. We
use so much deet that the skeeters really do not bother us even in the worst
conditions. But I have met many hikers who are tormented by them. I have
backpacked a bunch and always enjoyed having a tent. There are some light
ones out now. Good luck!

PS What's the Rockies look like now. We will be riding back on the
Continental Divide Trail after the PCT! Any El Nino damage?
