At last I have received several eyewitness reports and can relate actual
conditions to the sensor data.
1. Below 7,000
All sensors read no snow. However, there are patches on north facing
slopes, under intense tree cover
and other sheltered areas. In some sheltered areas there is as much as 10
feet left.
This area is melting quickly - about a foot every 3 days - and will
probably be clear by the July 4th weekend
2. 7,000-8,000
Sensors show almost zero snow. However sheltered areas may have long
stretches of snow 10 or more
feet deep. This is currently the transition zone (as of 6/23). Exposed
areas are typically bare but sheltered areas
are melting
