Jim is right about the "Adventure Pass" and the four National Forest where it
is required. It helps to remember that the Adventure Pass is required "for
your parked vehicle" in these areas.

I think the original question related to a "Permit for So. CA PCT." In my
mind, the hiker was asking about a "hiking permit" or "Visitor's Permit" (the
name on the actual piece of paper). Someone provided the information about
it's availability from the Cleveland National Forest in SoCA. They (CNF) can
issue a Visitor's Permit for hiking the PCT from "Campo to the CA/OR border."
It is important to remember that it is NOT a permit to build campfires (some
areas in SoCA require a separate permit). Be aware of the local requirements.

Summary: Adventure Pass for a parked vehicle (in the 4 NF listed above).
Visitor's Pass for hiking the PCT.

Happy hiking,
