Re: [pct-l] travel update

An unconfirmed source wrote the following after a trip to San Jacinto "about a
week ago" (May 5 ?):

<< I met some thru-hikers and from their experiences and mine I can report
the following: PCT conditions thru round valley were tough. Deep snow along
north face of red tahquitz, hazardous trail conditions, bring crampons
snowshoes and an ice axe! Bare ground an extremely rare commodity above 6500
feet. Slow going, novices need not apply ...... Mark >>

With snow levels down to 4,500 feet predicted for later this week, conditions
aren't likely to get much better for awhile.
