Charlie, I think you didn't read it (not them). Read this time:

To my mind this is ignorance, pure and simple. It makes me uninterested
in reading the rest of this endless diatribe. Delete key, you are my friend.

What is diatribe? What does "absolutely nothing" mean?

What about this (a private mail):

I don't need no stinkin' list to tell me about obviously good things to
bring. How about things the backcountry has evolved to rely on: rain (esp
in a drought year), dust fall.

How about things that were there that we may have recklessly destroyed?
How about reintroducing a plant to the arctic area (above timberline) that
was destroyed by careless hikers? How about bear boxes to help save the
bears from temptation. How about materials to stabilize trails?

The fact that you could make such a wide blanket statement shows you have
limited imagination. Just don't require the same dullness of others.

-----------------------

Charlie, your polemic borders on Nazi dogma. Please don't expect its
acceptance by those with enough brains to plan a thru-hike.

If you think I am an enemy of yours, you might be right. And maybe BJ can
help you. But don't expect those who can think their way out of a paper
bag to accept your tripe. Leaving no trace (roughly speaking) is a darned
good idea. LNT may be totalitarian bs. Certainly your quote above is.

Have a nice weekend. Dave
