FWIW, I spent today XC skiing on the PCT in the Lagunas. Over a foot of
heavy snow on the ground at the 5000 ft level. It was deep enough to ski in
the meadows (covering the bunch grass) wich is unusual. Most snows we have
to stick to the roads to guarantee good coverage.
There was pretty good coverage down to the 4200 ft level with amost no snow
at 3800. I have never seen that much snow on the ground up there 2 days
after a storm.
We packed it in and went home about 4pm because the temp droped 20F, the
wind started to blow and it started to snow as the latest front moved in.
