AFAIK, there are two "rules" that may apply to zip stoves:  No
FUEL-GATHERING over 9600 feet elevation and SOME AREAS forbid OPEN fires.
So zip users must gather fuel for lunch at the overnight stop (sleep low,
climb high).  And your lawyer will get to argue with the FS lawyer over
whether a zip stove is an open fire.  To me, it is no more open than any
other stove, and a lot less open than most.  I know of few liquid fuel
stoves that have an imperforate metal wall around and below the burner.

From what I can tell, zip stove users run the fan too much.  You only need
the fan when the fire is starting or when you want a raging inferno to boil
water quick.  Much of the rest of the time you can use low speed or shut
the fan off, I think.  Haven't used mine yet.
