I'm going to try hiking the PCT this summer. A friend with a dog
might join me for a while in June/July, which might mean Yosemite. Any
comments on dogs on the PCT, and solutions for the national parks?
I do believe the earlier comment about no dogs allowed in National Park
Service Wilderness Areas is true. During an '82 PCT thru-hike, I met-up with
a couple from Ohio who brought their German Shepard, Reily, along. Even with
leather booties, they had to send the dog home, as its feet weren't able to
handle the long distances. I've heard similar accounts with dogs on long
trips.
