Wendy,
You will get all sorts of replys to this one. THe old schoolers and
even some folks today say that women shouldn't go into the woods that time
of month and as for sex...
Don't worry. I work in the woods for six months a year and
unfortunately mother nature doesn't go away, and yes, even grizzly bear
territory. Bring a zip lock bag with you. Tampons work best, but I know
some women that can't use them. Baby wipes are a nice benefit. I have a
gray bag I carry everything in and the used tampons go into the ziploc and
get disposed of at the first stop. Always carry some extras with you. The
first big trip I did in the woods threw my cycle off and caught me off
guard. Be prepared. We can be boy scouts too.
The biggest thing is not to be too concerned. I did find that a pad
at night saved me from having to get out of the tent. It gets cold in the
mountains at night and dropping your pants to take care of business isn't a
pleasent experience.
As for sex, Well , the Indians managed to survive many years before
the white man brought over their ideas.
        Enjoy your trip,
                                                Laurie PCT '98
