[pct-l] ice axes

since the subject of ice axes was brought up recently, i have a question
to all that have carried them on the pct. i have an old r.e.i. ax with a
fiberglass wrapped shaft that weighs 2 1/4lbs. i've been thinking about
buying a cassin dragonfly ax with an aluminum head that weighs 12oz.
now, how much in durability and safety am i giving up with the cassin?
is it worth it? thanks.
