[pct-l] MAY 1 OR I'LL BUST!

hey tom,
we, p. cat and i are arriving in s.d. either the 30th or 31st. we don't know
what time yet, as i'm not even down there yet and we're both too busy to
talk,...
we may be staying with stacey bealeau, and she may be able to take us to
campo on may 1 , early. not yet defined.
if you rent a van, do you need to drop it off somewhere or just abandoning it
at campo?
I hope to start early on the first, like sunrise, as tired as I'll be. the
sooner the departure from the border, the better. I don't want to be near the
border at dusk. seems too risky!
let's keep talking. i'm outta here thursday a.m.
saturday was my last day at REI and I am sooo thankful to be out of there. we
just had a bon voyage bar-b-q tonight and i was saying good bye to all these
wonderful people but it still doesn't seem real!? It's a continual dream that
I wake up to, talk about and plan for all the time. But it still isn't real.
My pack weighs in at 20 lbs, but i forgot my first aid kit and my tiny wash
tub. i'm skipping my radio for awhile until/unless i'm going crazy. but it
still includes a frisbee and hacky, for those who want to play a little,
beyond just the push north.
for all you may firsters, i'm young, but out of shape, relaxed, but
determined. the last hike i did was 2 days on the duckabush river in the
olympic mtns a month ago. so much for pre-hike training. though I've been
enjoying these last few weeks of excess ben & Jerry's and micro beers, mostly
porters and stouts, as winter continually hangs here in the NW and I want to
fatten up for some reserves.
I'll be off this chat room soon, and Chad and Dom will be posting my trip for
me, for you. I'll miss you all. And thank you for your support
(By the way, they are doing the JMT in early august if anyone's interested)
