4.     A good attitude will make up for a serious shortage in training 
miles.  Right???
     
I've always been convinced that the real physical conditioning comes from the 
first 3 weeks on the trail (as long as you are at least in reasonably good 
shape).  After all, there's really nothing in the midwest to train on that 
measures up to the PCT.
