I just hike the PCT in the San gabriel mtns up Mt. Balden-Powell.
Above 8,000 feet there is still a lot of snow 3 to 5 feet and no
trail visible but if you follow the footprints up the mtn side you
will reach the top (9399ft) and can see the tip of a PCT sign
sticking up above the snow below the summit. By the time the thru
hikers reach this point the snow depth should be less. This part
of the PCT is in section D. Also for some reason Hwy. 2 is closed
at Mt. Balden-Powell parking lot. Hope this info. helps thru
