[pct-l] PCT Long-Distance Permit
This is to tack on to Brick's writing about a PCT permit. (See pct-l-digest
V1 #98.) Below is a copy of the notice about the PCT permit which appeared
in the PCT Communicator June-July 1996, page 5:
"WILDERNESS PERMITS ARE FREE TO PCTA MEMBERS; $6 TO OTHERS
Hikers or riders contemplating a trek on the Pacific Crest Trail of 500
miles or more can obtain a wilderness permit for the entire trip by writing
or calling the PCTA office (address and phone on page 2)*. The PCTA can
also issue a Whitney stamp for travel in the Whitney Zone - but only for
those who are on an extended trek.
Permits for PCTA members are free while the cost for non members is $6.
Steve Queen and Lesya Struz worked with the U.S. Forest Service to draft the
permit proposal which was adopted by the PCTA board at its last meeting."

Hope this helps.
