[pct-l] best thru hiking fowl: chickens vs. pheasants

I've tried to restrain myself, but I feel obligated to pipe up about which fowl is better for thru hiking.  Chickens are good, but pheasants may be better!  Also, I can't resist the urge to use the phrase "pleasant mother pheasant plucker".  

So, chickens or pheasants?  Surely there will be many turkeys on the trail this season.
