[pct-l] Hikertown at hiway 138

I would agree with Pea Hicks (Girl Scout ) and I also think that Bob Mayon
is trying very hard to overcome the first year of Skaggs operation.

The trail runs right by the fence line of this property and it is sure easy
to pick up your resupply, get water and keep going if you are so inclined

rather than do a two mile round trip to the country store.

I sectioned hiked the Aqua Dulcie/WalkerPass in Nov/Dec 1999 and our
experience was with the late Jack Fair. He had a fee schedule,

We paid $1.00 each to go to the Country Store in his old car filled with
gasoline cans, we paid for the showers and most people were inclined to

scrub the shower and bathroom before using. I think we also paid another
$1.00 each to sleep in the garage. Jack Fair was a character (and an old

time biker) he talked consistently and told you his stories. He also used
the "F" word every second word until I thought it was normal, and

he was using it as a adjective or an verb. He had a way out philosophy on
life and wrote a book of sorts, which he insisted I read.

My friend Pat and I were closer to his age and we were hiking in the off
season so he had a captive audience.

It was an experience I will never forget and like Sly I wished I had taken
his picture and one of his dog with the two different color eyes.

It takes all kinds of us to make up this world and I have enjoyed meeting
some of the would be characters and I am probably one of them.

Cheers,

Marge (the old gal)
