Years ago my wife and I hiked the TST.  We found it to be a very quite
peaceful hike.  Since everyone and their son is out on the JMT the TST
is all but forgotten.  A side effect of this is the TST is barely
maintained and you will be doing a lot of cross-country and route
finding.  Although not as much as the Roper's High Route, which we've
also done.
