[pct-l] The Trans PCT Challenge

As some may know, the California Coast Walk does not
always hug the coast. In particular, the section in
North Monterey County is diverted from the coast by
golf courses along the coast in the Pebble Beach area
from Pacific Grove until Carmel.
On March 9, in Monterey, there will be a meeting of
the California Coastal Commission at the Hyatt Regency
to seek approval for yet another golf course in this
region. Approval is sought by the Pebble Beach
company to cut down 17000 Monterey Pines in the Del
Monte Forest. In addition to cutting down trees in
the location of the golf course next to the beaches,
they want to move a large area devoted to horses from
near the beach up into the hills near the present
trail where trees will also be felled. If you can
attend this meeting, please come and help save the
trees while protesting the placement of the California
Coast Walk in this area.
