Marion,

Might I suggest purchasing Marble Mountain Wilderness by David Green and Greg Ingold. I bought mine 9 years ago and think it will certainly still be in print. It's by Wilderness Press, 1980. Needless to say, this areas major representative Deems will have the best kept secrets suggestions! Also, we have a large contingent of BCH in this area...might be helpful to contact them. More than one rancher in Siskiyou Co. use llamas for sheep protection and herding. As for parking for a month, again, I'd try BCH organization (North State unit) and see if a local will allow you to park your rig at their place. If nothing works, contact me off line for I might have someone to help out. Also, I'll be glad to share my phone number with you but will do so off line so that hordes of folks don't call wanting to know my spelling secrets. :)

We are considering a section hike of these sections this August.
Due to logistical concerns (how do you shuttle the llama van and trailer
several hundred miles, with only one vehicle and two people) we will
most likely start at the southern end of section P, hike north to the
CA-OR border, then turn around and hike back. We'd like to know about
worthwhile side hikes or parallel trails we could take to add some
variety and get to know the several wilderness areas along the way.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Also, does anyone know a safe place to park a van-and- trailer rig at
the south end of section P, for a month?
Marion
