I have a camera similar to this now, and have purchased the DDV-920
for this summer's hike. Should get it by the end of the week.

The one I have isn't nearly as good, does take very good pictures and
tolerable video. The voice recording is good enough to take notes
about the trip, and the audio playback is pretty good. I enjoy
talking books sometimes at night and occasionally on painful slogs.
The DDV-920 is just now available on eBay for about $200 and it
weighs less than 200 grams, or about 7 ounces. The battery will run
it for about 3 hours with the 2.5 LCD on, and is a relatively
inexpensive NP-60. One of the attractions for me, a solo hiker, is
that it comes with a remote for all functions. The reviews I've read
are that it functions as advertised.
