[pct-l] the Rim Trail

I concur with Shutterbug. It appears that the rim trail is the alternate route as per signage, and that there is next to nothing on the rim trail that says PCT.

I don't regret going on the rim trail at all, nor eagle creek alternate route, nor Paradise Park, nor Ramno Falls/ Muddy Fork. Nor the Cross Country Alternate route around Glacier Peak, etc.

Besides, I got some great photo's :-)

Like Yogi says, It is the PCT for you.... (sorry if I got the quote wrong)

Disclaimer...
Taking alternate routes may be hazardous to your health. If you take an alternate route you do so at your own risk. If you are overwhelmed by the beautiful views, Lovely Sunsets or the potentially harder trails and hence forth incur a loss of hours or days due to gasping at the Sheer beauty of any alternate route or for that matter any of the normal Breathtaking views on the trail. I can not be held liable, It is solely at your own risk. please check with your Local ranger and you cardiologist to see what trail and possibly any alternate routes you may take.

Last year going Southbound there were very few if any signs for the alternative route around the crater Rim. I think the signage was better going North. Once on the Rim there was ZERO signs of the PCT but still difficult to err.

if I remember correctly, the trail along the rim was considered official
trail for only a season or two (including 1998). During that time, there
were actually two official routes - the equestrian and hiker routes. There
was oppositon from people who argued that there should only be one PCT, and
all of it should be open and passable for horses. So the rim PCT quickly
reverted back to an alternate route, and the PCT markers were mostly
removed. This is also why the PCT no longer splits into two routes near
ramona falls (by mount hood), and why paradise park is not considered the
PCT.
