[pct-l] PCT closed in Angeles Forest

Attempts are being made to get this open for hikers, needless to say hikers
would have to stay on the the trail through the closure.

I was hopeing to flag an alternate route from Eagles Roost to Waterman Mtn
Trail, then take the Waterman(?) trail to Three Points bypassing the segment
from Cloudburst Summit to Three Points as well as Cooper Cyn closure area.

The problem is parts of the possible route are not sutable trail with out
signifigant improvements, though it still possible to start XC at Cedar
Spring and follow the ridge to the Waterman Trail, it's certianly nicer than
the road and safer as there is a lot of high speed traffic on the road.

A portion of the Pacific Crest Trail lies within the impacted area. Hikers
can take a detour around the area by departing the trail (northbound) at
Eagles Roost and taking the highway to Cloudburst Summit, a distance of 4.5
miles. The U.S. Forest Service has also been meeting with members of the
rock climbing community to work on a proposal that may allow climbing to
eventually continue at Williamson Rock.



The Angeles Crest Highway, which is administered by Caltrans, has been
closed to through traffic (connecting Wrightwood) since the fall of 2004,
due to storm damage. By assisting the Forest Service with restricting use of
the highway, an additional mile and a half of the road will be added to the
normal seasonal closure.
