Here's my noise & jet story.  Being from puddletown oreygun my wife &
I weren't familiar with the miltary installatioin layout in central /
southern cal.  From my July 26, 2004 JMT journal, Wallace Ck. to Mt.
Whitney summit...

"Oh, as a side note ? All day and tonight fighter jets have been
flying overhead, probably every 15 ? 30 minutes. For a long time we
were wondering there was another terrorist attack or something since
we never saw any commercial air traffic but I guess there's a military
base around here & they were training. Kind of Weird."
