[pct-l] GPSs, maps and the PCT



PCT route available for national geographic TOPO program in GPS formula 
loads entire pat as about 25 sequencial routes.These routes arein segments 
about 50 or so miles each. Once downloaded iin to TOPO they can beexported 
from TOPO as individual routes and thus loaded into your GPS as nice size 
routes for whichever part of the trail interesets you. This is nice because 
most GPS units cannot load up all the routes and waypoints for the whole PCT 
at one time. I used the Garmin legend C and could load up to 500 waypoints 
at a time which could provide  detail info of about 500 miles of trail At a
