I clicked on the above and was interested to see that Werner Herzog who "for years has examined risk taking individuals" was involved in the White Diamond miniature balloon article suggested by Chance Money.

Just last evening I watched Grizzly Man by Werner Herzog about the death of Timothy Treadwell (and lady friend) who studied bears on Kodiak Island in Alaska for some years.  The guy was definitely a bubble off and totally interfered with nature... but interesting film, none the less.
