[pct-l] North side of San Jacinto

undefinedbighummelundefinedNth Side of San Jacinto - 12/05undefinedNorth side of San JacintoundefinedHere is a link to an AOL photo album with picts from a hike that Sunny, my 70 year old hiking partner (well, in dog years!) and I took today. It was absolutely beautiful and clear and cool. We climbed up 2,000 feet in about 5 miles before my hiking partner decided we should turn around. She almost didn't make it back to the truck! No snow visible anywhere on the mountain. A few southbound footprints visible, but could be dayhikers.

This hike can be done! It is about 22 miles and 5,000 feet, all up to Black Mountain Campground (a bit more to get up onto Fuller Ridge), but the grade is so gentle that it is a stroll going up. The best time to do it would be in late Fall or early Spring when the deserts haven't heated up yet. It is a GREAT training hike, to help build those thigh muscles into climbing monsters!
