Craig,     36 oz is not really all that light. There are several companies that make packs lighter than 36 oz. The GOLITE JAM only weighs 21 oz and is a darn good ultra light pack.                 Glen Vanpeski @ GossamerGear has aline of packs that are even substantially lighter than the JAM.  Just look up their product line on the Internet.
