Big fan of long sleeves for hiking in the desert and higher elevations.

My hiking shirt of choice is a polyester dress shirt from the thrift store.
Dries quickly, light in color, protects me from the sun.  Has some pin
stripes so when I am in town I can look snazzy. :)  $4 at the thrift store.
Wear a wide brimmed hat as well.

I don't enjoy hiking in long pants, esp. during warm weather.
