Switchback, my lawyer will be contacting your lawyer about your infringement
on my patent. I hold patent #00000BS on the idea of putting food in a bag
for each day. I'm sure you saw me with my bag on top of Dick's Pass, so you
can't deny it.
Seriously, I (and many of us probably) have done this for a long time. I
quit using a bag for each day as I found my appetite changing even on short
trips. Instead, I use two bags for the current day, with everything else in
the bear can. A small bag goes in my pocket with what I plan to eat before
lunch/dinner, usually a few bars, some trail mix, etc. The rest of the day's
food, including lunch, dinner, and drink mixes, goes in a large bag in my
pack. The rest stays in the bear can until the next morning. This way I only
have to open the bear can in camp.
One could take this to the extreme. I saw someone's stuff sack get taken at
the camp at the Center Basin Trail north of Forester Pass. He said all he
had was trash in it, but I later found he had several bags of uneaten food.
Whatever was in his daily bag went in the trash rather than back in his
bearcan. Oops.
