Answer: YES!  The thing everyone forgets is that back then they used horses and mules.  If you told John Muir (the older) and the old pioneers that we were all going to walk the PCT to Canada, they would probably think you were nuts.
 
Speaking of President Teddy and John Muir.  Do you know how many blankest were under him when he camped out with John Muir in Yosemite????  I do.  I was there -- only kidding, but it is recorded how many blankest were placed under him.  Your pal, Switchback
