[pct-l] peaks along the PCT-Q

Yes!, Kings Castle is a perfect afternoon climb from Paradise lake, just go
up to the low saddle from the lake, then follow the ridge to the peak, and
return the same route. The veiw is great! On the west-backside is the first
design of the PCT (a personal favorite) scratched thru the Marbles in the
early 1970s, but the USFS stayed with the older-current trail. I climbed
Black Marble on the same day I climbed Marble mtn, and there was a very
exposed icy steep section that definitely rated a high pucker factor. The
limestone faces are incredible, and I can't think of anywhere else on the
PCT with this much acreage of pure limestone, crevasses, and caves. Marble
Mtn has a long flat top, with a 1000ft cliff face on the north side, where
the wind screams straight up! The top of Kings is a limestone block, and
this photo is July04 looking at Kings Castle across Paradise lake as the sun
rose...
