The rig broke down this morning so nothing else to do but go for another
walk;
A strong, fresh, cold wind is coming in off of the SF Bay and ocean running
waves across the grasses and reeds in the fields for as far as the eye can
see, all of the way to the coastal ranges sticking out clear as a bell.
- Two red tailed hawks alight from a tall tree screeching at me and one
comes in close to size me up, clearly signalling that eggs or small ones are
hatching.
- 3 California Turkey vultures play on the currents of the wind just feet
over my head and exhibit their huge wingspans.
- The wind blows so hard that it buffets my feet before I can put them down
and threatens to blow me into Kansas periodically.
- A huge swarm of finches plays on the wind above some farm houses turning
the sky black when they all turn in unison and flirting whimsically upon the
currents. Why? Evidently purely for the thrill and fun of it.
- My cohorts out here lambast me for being so "healthy" but for each their
own way. I have accumulated about 70 miles in 16 days growing stronger and
stronger as they grow fatter and line their lungs with tabacco smoke.
