After what happened to Mt. St. Helens, I don't want
to lose yet another gorgeous local hiking area to
fresh vulcanism. All you have to do is look at Rock
Mesa on South Sister's SW flank to know how active
the area is. I hope the eruption's a long time off in the
future, so I can keep enjoying the place. It's nothing
short of spectacular as it exists today.
