What is PostHoler?

PostHoler was created for the PCT enthusiast to quickly and easily determine
the snow conditions along the
entire trail. A simple peek at the page gives you an informed idea of
current (and historical) conditions. Of
course, you'll find a page for the Continental Divide Trail as well.

Upgrades for this season:

+ Added an altitude column so the altitude of the reporting station is
easily known.

+ The '%' column and 'bar' are linked to the individual data graphs for that
station. Showing current-year,
previous-year and normal-year plots.

+ The 'GS' (guidebook) column is linked to a 1:50000 topo map for the
reporting station. Click on the value
for a topo map as created by topozone.com.

+ The 'Elev' column is linked to 30-day tabular data for that station. All
available sensors are reported.

+ added 'Points of Interest' links just below map for quick access to the
most important trail info.

+ The PCT postHoler map now has a plethora of 'hot spots' on it for your
entertainment. :) For instance, click
on a location, such as Sonora Pass and get a satellite view of the area as
provided by terraserver.com. But
it's not limited to that, the map has an ever-growing number of other 'hot
spots'.

More than you wanted to know section:
All data is acquired from NRCS with exception of California. California data
is acquired from CDEC, which
may use NRCS data or data from other agencies, such as power companies and
forest service. The data
presented can be independently verified with the following formula:
(CurrentSWE / AvgAprilFirstSWE) *
100 = % of April 1st SWE . All data can be found at CDEC:
http://cdec.water.ca.gov/  or  NRCS:
http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/
