Mags said "... I find myself in a spiritual place. The creation before me makes me feel humble, and exalted at the same time. (Except for one unfortunate day when I had a Bon Jovi song stuck in my head while crossing the desert. ..."

At least it wasn't America's "Horse With No Name" (Yeah, Dick, I'd give it an 85 for the music/beat, 65 to dance to, and 50 for the lyrics... I 'like' it as long as I could manage to ignore those lyrics!). ; o

Up in the High Sierra above treeline on a clear night during the height of the Perseid meteor shower (usually August 12th or 13th)... Some of the stars appear 'fuzzy' - galaxies - their light taking millions of years to reach your eyes... Humbling, indeed! Just think for a moment how amazingly far you can see when you simply look up into the night sky... But then also ponder if some of those points of light are still actually in existence in 'real' time - or did they burn out or nova long ago...

Hiking, reaching a pass or summit and being able to see your route for a few days ahead of or behind you... Exalting! (Isn't that why so many PCTers raise their ice axes over their heads when they summit Whitney or finally top Forester Pass?)

To each person their own method or form of obtaining their personal spirituality...

Happy trails!!!
