I"ve got an REI morningstar pack that I have snipped and trimmed until it weighs
2 pounds. I removed all three external pockets and replaced them with mesh
pockets, cut the floating top part off, trimmed all the straps, cut off the
sternum strap and replaced, cut out the divider between the top and bottom
compartments, replaced the metal zipper pulls with paracord. Now I have a
sturdy large capacity pack with all the features I want and none that I don't
want. I think the pack cost $130.00
