For the Uber-geek,
Research grade data logger with choice of parameters (temp, RH, BP, SR, etc.).  It's a small unit so would pack easily, however you need a computer to interface it.  I saw the altitude discussion (barometric pressure) and it seemed like some people might be interested in a link like this.  I havn't purchased one as I can't justify a reason to collect that sort of data yet, but the potential is interesting.
