[pct-l] isn't this the ALDHA info/ride board? was... pcta?=)

Howdy Sly,

Yep, the ALDHA-West website (www.aldhawest.org) will be updated soon with the tentative presentation schedule, the fee schedules, etc. For right now, the dates are Friday, Sept. 30th to Sunday, Oct. 2nd at the Sierra Pines Camp, just a couple miles west of Echo Summit near South Lake Tahoe and therefore just a couple miles off of the PCT. There will be talks by Linda Hunt, Scott Williamson, Scrambler, etc., etc. and a few llamas, some triple crown presentations, an honorarium for one of those outstanding people who have spent most of their life putting their passion, time and money into trails.

I, if my work schedule allows, will also be hiking from Donner Summit on Sunday morning, Sept. 25th heading south to the gathering, aiming to arrive sometime either late Thursday or first thing Friday. I'm also considering a side climb of Rubicon Peak, just for the fun of it and if time allows. I have three co-hikers already considering to join me and, of course, all are welcome.

Best regards,

Greg "Strider" Hummel

Hey Greg,

Will you be updating the ALDHA W Gathering page anytime soon? I still plan on attending after hiking the JMT (sorry, someone has to hike it) and was wondering what's going on.

Also looking for a ride to the Gathering (for two) from Lone Pine on Friday September 30. Someone must be going that way! If not, I guess I can always use public transportation and/or hitch.

Sly

Yep, I would like to talk about the trail! I'm sitting here at home on a lovely summer day, doing all of those necessary things to keep life going in a large family and constantly dreaming about being out there. I run into a guy at the carwash that says he just got back from Peru . . . I run into a neighbor at a store that says they just got back from a week on the beach . . . all of you are planning hikes, starting hikes, looking for transportation help, and whining. Just remember that there are many of us on the list lurking out here who do not have the personal freedom to just pick up and head out at a moments notice and who direly wish to be able to. Hmmmm, in retrospect, this rather sounds like a whine also! Damn it, where are my boots?
