[pct-l] Mojave water Caches
Hi B or "AsABat" If everything works out right, I will be going from the
I-15 to Hwy 58 the first two weeks of October. Looks like I will be by
myself. My Grandson is getting His first real job. Will be looking for water
updates around the middle of September. Hope I don't die of thirst. I have

I would caution southbounders (and everyone else) to be cautious about
relying on water caches this fall. Some of the cachers may not know about
the large southbound herd this year. I assume the 15 hikers are part of the
herd, but if they're one group heading out for a bit they might consider
setting up their own caches ahead of time. The Barciks in Weldon mentioned
they would maintain their caches to September, although I do remember seeing
a few gallons there in January a few years ago.
I would also encourage the head of the pack to let us know (to this list,
myself, or through the Saufleys) so we can update the water report as the
rest of the herd heads south into the desert. I'd doubt there will be many
section hikers in the desert this month or next <grin>.
