[pct-l] Little Jimmy CG

H

After reading Weathercarrot and Capt. Bivy post on Little Jimmy Camp Ground
a group of us decided to go up and clean up the camp ground. Instead of taking
our day pack we carried our large packs empty up to the camp grounds. While
going up we ran across a family of about sixteen who spent a over night there
coming down. We also walked up with a group about twenty I believe it was a
family of three generation.

Arriving at the camp ground there were several other families there. We
explained what our attentions were and asked then to watch our empty backpack
until we returned from doing Mt. Islip Peak. There was garbage strewed all over
the camping ground. They explained that the Rangers removed the garbage
containers and they had no place to put their garbage. Weathercarrot in his post
said the Bears evidently threw the garbage on the ground. Tis, Tis .

We did the Peak and came back to the camp ground to our surprise all the
little kids were picking up the garbage and putting it into our backpacks. They
really enjoyed cleaning up. We made one mistake we did not but out the 30
gallon garbage bags and the kids just put the garbage in our Packs. Well we had
a stinking car going back and had to laundry our backpacks

Perhaps a sign should be put up both in English and Spanish.

PS: One of them remembered Capt Bivy's bout with the bear. The bear was
later shot.
