[pct-l] would like some section hike (short) recommendations

Do you mean 10-12 mi. for the whole 3 days, or 10-12 mi. each day?
Either way, you could find some good stuff, including loops and side 
trips, in Lassen NVP, tho it's probably pretty mosquito-ey right now. 
Farther north, the Marble Mountains have some excellent trips, as well.
