[pct-l] Re: caches at Kelso V. Rd. and Bird Spring Pass

An addendum on the Barcik's and their two vital caches.

Picture this:

Mary Barcik, 70 years young, hops on her motorcycle and rides the badly
rutted dirt road to Bird Spring Pass. She threads the 70-80 empty one and two
gallon jugs together, hangs them around her neck, body and bike, then
bounces with her awkward bulky load of jugs back to her home in Weldon.

She and her 73-year young husband clean and refill the jugs, load them into
their car, drive the load back to Bird Spring Pass, and then tote the heavy
crates of jugs back up to place under the juniper trees for another round of hikers.

They repeat this scenario a couple times a week, and have done so for the
last 5 years. They also stock the cache at Kelso Road at least
twice a week (an easier task per Mary, with a`better dirt road and they
actually drive that road for other reasons...)

When I talked to Mary last week, she said it's getting harder every year for
them to keep these caches stocked, but they'll stay at it just as long as
they can. Kudos to all the wonderful trail angels, and especially to these
amazing septuagenarians .
