You can take the STAGE bus into Eureka or Dunsmuir from Mount Shasta and
Greyhound into Redding: Greyhound buses can be flagged down in front of the
Pizza Palace on Dunsmuir Avenue; northbound at 12:10 pm and 2:45 pm;
southbound at 3:45 pm. CAVEAT: you must be out in the street to flag them,
they don't stop otherwise unless someone is getting off. In Eureka, the bus
stops at one of the big gas stations at the north end of town right beside
I-5. The folk at the STAGE office can tell you where. It's a short walk from
thir station to the bus stop. Eureka would be a better choice than Dunsmuir.
This assumes Greyhound is still making those stops. They've cut a lot of
smaller stops from their schedules.
Contact STAGE at 1-800-24STAGE or 530-842-8295. The schedules can be
accessed on the internet at http://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us Click on "Public
Interest" and then "STAGE Schedule".
There is local bus service between Burney - the town, not the state park -
and Redding twice a day, six days a week for $3 one-way. The bus stops at
the holiday Market on the east end of Burney next to McDonald's and at the
Redding Regional Transit Center, 3 blocks west of the Greyhound station at
Pine and butte. There are 3 or 4 motels a block or so north of the Greyhound
station.
Leave Redding 1030 am; arrive Burney at noon
Leave Redding at 5:45 pm; arrive Burney at 7:00 pm
