I strongly suggest you purchase/collect/barter/steal all your gear
*except* your
pack. Once you've done this bring, it all down to your local
outfitter and start
filling packs until you find one that holds all your gear and fits
comfortably.
This is the best way to figure out which pack is best for you and
your gear as
opposed to me and my gear!

That being said...

I used the Aether 60 on the AT in 2002. It has changed a bit since
then but
I liked it a lot and it was one of the most popular packs that year
on the trail.

I used the GraniteGear Vapor Trail on the PCT in 2004. It was also
the most
popular pack on the PCT that year. I also liked this pack a lot. I
switched
mainly to trim some ounces. I had to swap out hip belts after
loosing some
weight by Oregon. This is a nice feature of this pack.

I think the Aether 60 is a bit better at handling loads that get up
over 30 pounds.

There is plenty of space in the Vapor Trail and the huge expansion
collar lets
you really pile things up if you need to.

Going into the Sierra's I was able to carry an ice-axe and a bear
canister with
food for six to seven days of hiking to Independence without too much
trouble.
I carried the canister inside the pack, vertically.
