[pct-l] Options around Sonora Pass

There are a lot of options for permits if you're starting at Leavitt
Meadows. I usually call the Bridgeport Forest Service office and ask that
the permit be put in a box at Pinecrest, so that I can pick it up at night
as I drive to the trailhead. There is no cost; at least there hasn't been.
Please note that I have not used a permit I've gotten in this manner to
transit Yosemite, but wouldn't expect a problem. Whitney, is another issue,
especially for a July exit.

Parking at Whitney Portal? As I recall, there was no fee. BUT BE CAREFUL.
Bears get into cars there. And if you have broken rules, there is the insult
of fines added to the injury of the break-in.

Peace,
